Dr. Vinton Douglas MD, DM (PHD) Emerg., MBA, MSc (Healthcare Leadership), MSc (Medical Education), MS Masters in Sports Medicine, is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority (CIHSA). Prior to this appointment, he was Director of Corporate Services for five years and a consultant emergency physician at the CIHSA for 13 years from 2006 to 2019. He is also a consultant in hyperbaric medicine and underwater medicine.
Dr. Douglas attended St. Catherine High School in Jamaica (1979 – 1986), St. Petersburg Medical University in St Petersburg, Russia (1989 – 1994), the University of the West Indies (Doctor of Medicine (PHD) in Emergency Medicine, 2000 – 2005), University of Liverpool (MBA, 2019), University of South Wales (MSc Medical Education, 2019, University of South Wales (MSc Healthcare Leadership, 2022), University of South Wales (MSc Sports and Exercise Medicine, 2015) and University of Stellenbosch (South Africa) (Occupational Medicine (PG DiP), 2017).
During his tenure as Director of Corporate Services, Dr. Douglas led the CIHSA with his team in achieving the prestigious Gold Seal of the Joint Commission International (JCI) Accreditation in 2023. In 2020, he was awarded the prestigious Certificate and Badge of Honour (Cert. Hon.) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for his tireless efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Douglas is a Caribbean native and was born in the island nation of Jamaica. He is happily married.
