The fourth annual Cayman Islands Healthcare Conference will have
important information for everyone living and working in the Cayman
Islands, so organisers are encouraging as many people as possible
to attend and learn how to improve their health.
Taking place from 17 – 19th October at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman,
the conference will be focusing its discussions this year on how to
keep healthy in the workplace under the theme: ‘Taking Care of Business:
A Shared Approach to Workplace Wellness’.
The Hon. Osbourne Bodden, Minister of Health, Youth, Sports and Culture
explained why this particular theme was chosen: “Last year, the Ministry
of Health conducted the first-ever Chronic Non-Communicable Disease
Risk Factor Survey, known as the Healthy Nation 2012 Survey, which
produced worrying statistics when it comes to the health of the nation.
In the light of these statistics, this year’s conference is looking
at how to improve wellness in the workplace,” he states.
A planning charrette was conducted following the 2012 conference (which
included a breakout session on workplace wellness), involving key
stakeholders from various industries, including HR professionals,
insurance, medical community, health and wellness professionals, etc.
Outcomes from this planning session revealed the need and interest
from the local community to further explore the area of workplace
wellness for the entire 3 day conference
Minister Bodden outlined that there will be a wide range of speakers
whose presentations will be relevant to the working population, as
