A Message from the Minister
Hon. Mark Scotland Minister for Health, Environment Youth, Sports & Culture
We hope this year’s conference, themed Healthcare Economics: The Search for Quality and Affordability, will mark the beginning of a process that will lead us to a sustainable and equitable model of healthcare for all of us in Cayman Islands, one that can be envied worldwide. Speakers will consider both public and private perspectives, and offer insights into the responsibilities and expectations of the various stakeholders. I am eager to hear what our impressive list of speakers has to say. Over the three days of the conference, delegates can attend more than a dozen sessions offering a comprehensive look at the healthcare industry – from patients’ needs to the role of physicians to insurance issues. We are thrilled to again be able to invite the public to attend this conference free of charge. Due to the generous support of our sponsors, the event is also being put on at very little cost to the Ministry of Health.
A wide range of sponsors have stepped up to make this possible, including local businesses and healthcare companies and some of our international healthcare partners.
The theme of this conference cannot be more timely or more important as the Cayman Islands and the world continue to struggle in a very difficult economic climate. This year’s National Conference provides an incredible opportunity to gain valuable insight and direction in how to ensure a viable healthcare system for now and the future. All stakeholders can come together to listen, discuss and debate, with the aim of coming to a consensus on the way forward.
